Principal’s Message

I am so proud to be principal of beautiful Anakie Primary School. With a population of approximately 55 students, Anakie Primary provides a safe, positive and engaging learning environment which acknowledges and celebrates each child as an individual.  As such, we pride ourselves on every student having individual learning goals in Reading, Writing and Numeracy.  This allows for a differentiated approach whereby students develop greater responsibility for their learning and co-create their goals with their teacher.  This coincides with ongoing acknowledgement and celebration of both learning growth and achievement.

In addition to Literacy and Numeracy, we offer a specialist program in the areas of Visual Arts, Physical Education, MARC (Mobile Area Reading Service) Literacy through Performance, as well as Indonesian and an optional Instrumental Music program.

At Anakie Primary School we ensure a consistent approach to student engagement and wellbeing through the School Wide Positive Behaviours Framework.  Within this framework we explicitly teach expected behaviours and reward and acknowledge positive choices.  Our school values are central to all that we do, and students are encouraged to reflect on their choices in a supportive environment for continued social and emotional growth.

We have a passionate teaching team who work collaboratively to implement an evidence – based learning program with high expectations in place across all levels.  This includes our Out of School Care Program, where policies and processes closely align with those of the school.  We are fortunate to operate our own OSHC program, and the staff in this program are an essential part of our team and understand every child as a young person and learner.

At Anakie Primary School, we operate as a community of learners, and highly value the home/school partnership.  We see improved learning growth from students who read at home each night, and those who also undertake regular real life maths opportunities at home.  Home learning is tracked and celebrated, as are positive attendance rates.  Every day counts at Anakie Primary, and we prioritise students being at school and learning in their classrooms with their teachers and friends.

We are committed to every student’s academic and personal growth by delivering a balanced and comprehensive curriculum that challenges and extends capabilities.

I welcome you to Anakie Primary School and look forward to us working together to achieve successful learning outcomes for your child.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss how we can support your child to Aim for Excellence and succeed in their primary schooling as part of our close-knit, supportive team.

Sincerely

Toni Scott
